DeepSeek Uygulaması Güney Kore’de Neden Yasaklandı?
DeepSeek, South Korea has temporarily suspended the download of its applications. The chatbot, which was banned in the country some time ago, did not provide an explanation for this decision. However, it was indicated that the company aims to address privacy concerns with local authorities.
DeepSeek and South Korea Will Collaborate
The Personal Information Protection Commission of South Korea reported that DeepSeek’s applications have been removed from the App Store and Google Play Store. The commission also noted that the company agreed to collaborate to strengthen privacy measures before its applications can be reinstated.
This situation, of course, does not affect users who have previously downloaded DeepSeek on their phones. However, Nam Seok, director of the investigation department at the Personal Information Protection Commission, advised South Korean users to uninstall the app from their devices or to refrain from entering personal information until the issues are resolved.
Many government agencies and companies in South Korea blocked DeepSeek out of concern for sensitive data collection, and they also banned their employees from using it for work purposes. Last month, the Personal Information Protection Commission began examining DeepSeek’s services and found a lack of transparency regarding the company’s third-party data transfers.
Director Nam stated that the commission does not have a precise estimate of the number of DeepSeek users in South Korea. However, analyses reveal that approximately 1.2 million smartphones in South Korea are using DeepSeek.
