The domestic markets are closely watching the interest rate decision that the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) will announce on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 14:00.
In the Market Participants Survey released by the TCMB, the interest rate expectation for December is projected to decrease by 1.5 percentage points to 48.51.
According to Bloomberg HT’s interest rate survey, the median expectation of 22 institutions is that the interest rate will be reduced by 150 basis points from 50% to 48.5% in the year’s final meeting.
Out of the 22 institutions, 18 believe the first cut will happen in December, while 4 expect it to occur in January 2025. The median estimate for the policy rate by the end of 2025 stands at 31%, with the highest expectation at 35% and the lowest at 25%.
