Nintendo Reveals Best-Selling Consoles
Nintendo has been developing its own gaming systems and software since the launch of the Family Computer (Famicom) model in 1983 in Japan. Over the years, it has introduced some of the most renowned game series, including Mario, Donkey Kong, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and Splatoon.
On the hardware front, the Nintendo DS stands out as the company’s best-selling console with shipments totaling 154.02 million units. The Nintendo Switch follows closely with 153.10 million units sold.
Other notable sales figures include Game Boy at 118.69 million, Wii at 101.63 million, Game Boy Advance at 81.51 million, Nintendo 3DS at 75.94 million, NES at 61.91 million, SNES at 49.10 million, Nintendo 64 at 32.93 million, GameCube at 21.74 million, and Wii U at 13.56 million units. The recently released Nintendo Switch 2 has already surpassed the 6 million mark.
